1. Packaging – utilize quality packaging and supplies. You are shipping a precious commodity so packaging matter. We do not endorse any packaging vendor, but Uline is a large vendor that offers quality packaging materials specifically for cold shipping.
2. Packing – Avoid “empty space” within shipping cooler AND outer packaging. Fill any voids with cold packs, bubble wrap, etc. Minimizing movement inside of packaging will reduce chances of damage.
3. Temperature – utilize the maximum number of cold packs as possible. The package will travel overnight, but always overestimate in case of delays.
4. Accuracy – Accurate weight and package measurements is REQUIRED. Make sure you weigh your package and measure the length, width, and height of every package. Always round up to the next whole number for both weight and dimensions.Â
5. Labelling – attach shipping label to the top of the package – this helps keeps the package upright while shipping.
6. Timing – Packages only move with major shipping carriers at night, so pack and ship your packages as late in the day as possible. Major shipping carriers publish their shipment drop off locations and “Drop Off Deadlines”. It’s a best practice to schedule your packing and drop off to be as close to the drop off deadline as possible.
